TULSA, Okla. – The fire at Magellan Midstream Partner’s terminal was extinguished at approximately 5 a.m. today. The fire remained isolated to one tank and was triggered by an apparent lightning strike which occurred at 7:45 p.m. on June 3.
“Due to cooperative effort between Magellan and the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department, EPA and other agencies, the event was safely and efficiently managed without any injuries,” said Magellan spokesman, Bruce Heine.
Operations resumed June 4 at 3 p.m. at Magellan’s Kansas City truck loading system which supplies gasoline, gasoline / ethanol blends, diesel and jet fuel to the local marketplace. The company has also resumed operations of its pipeline system serving the Kansas City terminal.
“Our inbound and outbound shipments of refined products at Kansas City have resumed to normal levels,” said Heine.
